M3asuring Success
Poverty, violence, lack of affordable healthcare, these are social issues that have been built over decades within our communities. Research suggests that youth being resilient includes more than merely surviving, and being a victim for life; it also encompasses the ability to heal and to be empowered to live life fully.
With My Block My Hood My City’s Explorers Program we are developing our students character through 4 pillars, Trust, Confidence, Generosity, and Belonging. We believe these traits mean more to a child’s future than their attendance. We are building RESILIENCE against the traumatic environments that plague the divested communities of this city.
TRUST
Building Trust: Forging new connections with adults and mentors that is consistent, positive and reliable.
GENEROSITY
Building acts of Generosity: Contributing outlets for youth volunteerism and philanthropy, and acknowledging generous acts when executed.
CONFIDENCE
Building Confidence: Providing opportunities for youth voice, youth autonomy, and greater mastery of both soft and hard skills.
BELONGING
Building a greater sense of Belonging: Providing safe spaces, team building, support, and group identity.
